Description
Here we have a wonderful vintage fish decoy, or spearing decoy, out of La Crosse Wisconsin. Made by Charles Sokolik. Circa 1930's. 5 1/2" long, and painted forest green all over. The elegantly cut tin-coated copper fins are firmly set into the wooden sides of the Fish, as is the copper bar line tie. The Fish is graced with a beautiful curved wooden tail, but sadly the lower lobe has broken away many years ago, and the fisherman has blackened the scar. This is a fantastic and ultra rare Fish, born from materials at hand during the early Depression, all original, (and intact other than the tail fin break), and having a patina appropriate to its age and history. A Jewel.
