Ice Auger Cordless Drill Adapter for drills
    with 1/2 in. drill chucks
Designed for Eskimo, Strikemaster Lazer and Mora hand augers, Bass Pro hand augers with wing bolt to attach the handle
Customers with the older Mora and Lazer augers with the screw on handle (no wing bolt) please note on order “tapped hole needed”
This is a compact, light weight aluminum adapter that is designed to keep the cost down but still get the job done. This adapter does require you to remove the drill chuck from your drill motor but if you are looking for an alternative to not having safety devices on your adapter to stop the auger from going through the ice if the chuck jaws loosen up then this adapter is what you want. My favorite ice auger adapter to use is still the standard one that I make with the 5/16" hardened hex shaft and no safety bolts:

which will not loosen up in the chuck if installed and tightened properly and with many years of testing on the ice this has proven to be correct. It also allows me to quickly change my drill motor back and forth from ice fishing to other jobs done with it.
The adapter will come with a hex key (allen wrench) for removal of the drill chuck and tightening of the adapter to your drill motor.
To remove your drill chuck follow these steps and refer to the pictures above:
    1) Open the drill chuck to it's maximum opening. Now look inside the drill chuck and you will see the head of a bolt (screw) that needs to be removed. What type of tool that needs to be used to remove that bolt (screw) you will have to determine, every manufacturer will use a different type of bolt (screw) so the tool used to remove this could be a #2 or #3 phillips screwdriver, straight slot screwdriver, torx screwdriver, square drive screwdriver, hex key, etc. In the pictures you will see that my Ryobi drill had an optional square drive or straight slot screwdriver bolt (screw), I used the #2 square drive screwdriver simply because it is a much more positive way to remove the bolt (screw) then a straight slot screwdriver. The one thing that is common with all drill motors is that you will turn this bolt (screw)
    clockwise
(left handed thread) to remove it. Make sure your tool fits well into the bolt (screw) because if you strip that area removal of the drill chuck now becomes very difficult, usually resulting in drilling the head off the bolt (screw).
    2) The next step is to remove the drill chuck. Use the hex key (allen wrench) supplied with your adapter and insert it into the drill chuck (see picture) and tighten. Now rotate the hex key
    counter clockwise
(right handed thread) making sure that the clutch is in the lock position. If you would like to have more leverage you can install a short piece of 1/4" pipe (galvanized or black pipe) over the hex key since the drill chuck may have been installed very tightly to the drill motor at the time of manufacturing.
    3) Now you can install the ice auger adapter to your drill motor and then insert the hex key into the hole in the adapter and tighten securely.
If the length of the adapter is not long enough for you just notify me and I can make one up to 12" longer, I will quote you a price at that time.
Please email me with any questions or concerns before purchasing. I am a highly skilled fabricator and I can customize this product to fit your needs.
Thanks in advance and enjoy the fishing, one of the many things God has given us to enjoy, especially with family and friends!
