Hello again from AxeMasters. It's been a theory in the guitar world for many years that each individual string would play louder and have a purer tone if each string had a seperate nut. This idea is the result of a school of thought that, if you keep the sonic energy of the low E from interfering with the sonic energy of the A right next door, then each string will sound better.
Well, since it's obviously awkward to use 6 seperate pieces of nut mounted side by side and each insulated by a tiny air space, we think that we’ve come up with an interesting alternative. We are very happy to offer the Sonic Barrier Concept (SBC) guitar nut.
Between each string slot, we saw a .01" slot - at the halfway point between slots and as far down as possible without significantly weakening the nut. We saw to a very safe depth which also provides plenty of space between slots to activate the sonic barrier.
Our flat-bottom nut is hand-made from rich COW BONE and round-slotted for perfect string placement. Then sawcut for the SBC effect. Fits any Strat or Tele style guitar with a flat bottom groove and many others - .12" thick, .19" tall, 1.65" long.
