A Compensated Brass Nut to Help You Achieve Perfect Intonation

Guitar intonation
is an often overlooked procedure which, when done properly, helps you get each string properly tuned.  This means that your guitar sounds great regardless of whether you're fretting or playing open chords. How many times have you been playing, sounding great, when you hit into an open C chord and suddenly the tuning sounds terrible?

Fits most Gretsch electric guitars
In our experience, the treble strings are typically the most bothersome with respect to intonation.  Who knows why, they simply are.  So, we've specially slotted our compensated nut at the G, B and high E slots.  By removing material to the proper depth in those three slots, the scale length for those strings is increased just enough.
Our nut for Gretsch is hand ground and sanded from solid musical brass and round-slotted for perfect string placement. All hand-made - no machines. Very attractive brushed surface finish.
3/16" thick, 5/16" tall, 1 11/16" long.
Special Note on Gretsch
:  Some newer model Gretsch guitars now use a thicker 1/4" nut.  Please let us know if you need this when you order.
